PRE- CARE INSTRUCTIONS
7 days before:
Avoid
- Retinol / retinoids
- Strong acids (AHAs, BHAs, at-home peels)
- Avoid waxing, threading, or laser on the treatment area.
- Avoid sunburn and tanning.
3 days before:
Stop using
- Scrubs or physical exfoliants
- Benzoyl peroxide (unless directed otherwise by your provider/doctor)
- Use gentle products only: mild cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturizer, SPF.
Day of treatment:
- Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
- Do not apply active products in the morning.
- Let your provider know:
- If you’re feeling unwell
- If you have a history of cold sores and feel one starting
- If you’ve had any new medications or treatments since your consult.
POST- CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Immediately – 24 hours:
You may feel like you have a moderate sunburn.
Do
- Follow the specific products your provider gives/recommends (usually gentle cleanser + soothing/hydrating serum or cream).
- Keep your hands off your face unless clean.
- If your skin feels warm, you can use a cool (not ice cold) compress briefly.
Avoid
- Makeup for at least 24 hours (preferably 24–48 hours).
- Touching, rubbing, or picking at the skin.
- Sweating heavily (gym, hot yoga, sauna, hot baths).
- Direct sun exposure.
24–72 hours:
- Redness and sensitivity should gradually decrease.
- Skin may feel tight, dry, or slightly rough/“sandpapery”.
Do
- Continue very gentle skincare
- Mild cleanser
- Hydrating, fragrance-free moisturizer
- Hyaluronic acid-based serum if recommended
- SPF 30+ if going outside.
Avoid
- Retinol/retinoids
- Acids (AHAs, BHAs, Vitamin C if it stings)
- Scrubs, cleansing brushes, dermaplaning, or waxing
- Self-tanner on the area.
3–7 days:
- Mild flaking or dryness may appear – let it come off naturally.
- Continue to focus on hydration + SPF.
- After about a week (or as advised by your provider) and once the skin is calm, you can gradually restart your actives.
ONGOING:
- Results from microneedling develop over weeks to months, and sun protection is key to maintaining them.
- Avoid major sun exposure (beach, tanning) while you’re in a treatment series.
